This coffee from Guji Megadu is grown at altitudes of 2000-2200 metres above sea level. The region is very mountainous and densely forested. The soil is rich and the potential for coffee is spectacular, making it one of the most exceptional coffee growing regions in the world. This year’s harvest was early! In Guji, usually harvest starts in December, but this year the cherries were ready to pick in November. After picking, the fresh cherries are placed on African raised beds, hand sorted and left to dry naturally.
In the cup, this coffee is bright and juicy with tropical kiwi and pineapple acidity, balanced by a smooth praline sweetness and a clean, lingering finish. We love this coffee black on espresso as well as enjoying the fruit forward tropical notes of our filter roast as a pourover.
